Efforts to meet human water needs at local scales may cause negative environmental externalities and stress on the water system at regional and global scales. Hence, assessing Sustainable Development Goals SDGs targets requires a broad and in-depth knowledge of the global to local dynamics of water availability and use. Furthermore, interactions and trade-offs between different SDG targets may lead to sub-optimal or even adverse outcomes if the set of actions are not properly pre-designed to consider such inter-linkages. Thus, scientific research and evidence have an important role to play in facilitating the implementation of SDGs through assessments and policy engagement from global to local scales. This paper addresses some of these challenges related to implementation and monitoring of the targets of the SDGs from a water perspective, based on the key findings of a conference organized in focused on three essential aspects of SDGs: indicators, inter-linkages, and implementation.
Sustainable Development and its Challenges in Developing Countries
The scope remains global and macroscopic, though there may be regional differences depending on the water sources available in a particular setting. Water systems in the realm of sustainable development may not literally include the use of water, but include systems where the use of water has traditionally been required. Sometimes, these purposes compete when resources are limited; for example, water needed to meet the demands of an increasingly urban population and those needs of rural agriculture. In order to decide if a water system is sustainable, various economical, social and ecological considerations must be considered. Surface freshwater is unfortunately limited and unequally distributed in the world.
Sustainable development is a phrase we hear thrown around from time to time in order to underline our ideal vision of the future — rid of all the problems that the inhabitants of the Earth tackle today. Depletion of natural resources. Gender inequality. An unequal distribution of wealth. These are just a few but they illustrate accurately the issues which we are striving to eliminate. However, due to the all-encompassing nature of the term Sustainable Development and the gravity of the situation which it looks to solve, many treat it as an abstract, unachievable concept usually taking into consideration the shocking images of over polluted oceans or the hopelessness of their life situation due to being born female.
Water, energy and food are the basic needs for all human beings and the fundamental elements necessary for economic growth and development. Despite significant progress, the security of water, energy and food supplies each remain far from being achieved. Notably, in the Asia-Pacific region, millions of people lack basic services water, energy and food , are deprived of their human rights and are trapped in poverty. It is projected that demand for these three resources will further increase in coming years and meeting such additional demand will be challenging under the conventional uni-sectorial approach. With Asia and the Pacific taking a leading role in terms of economy and development, the continuing growth in population will place immense pressure on these resources, which will lead to increasing conflict.

Many professionals believe that sharing knowledge and experience on groundwater matters on a worldwide scale and across disciplines is an effective strategy to identify and promote optimal approaches to the assessment, development and management of groundwater resources. This is exactly what the international This is exactly what the international journal of Groundwater for Sustainable Development is intending to address.
The Sustainable Development Goals SDGs or Global Goals are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all". They are included in a UN Resolution called the Agenda or what is colloquially known as Agenda The resolution identifies specific targets for each goal, along with indicators that are being used to measure progress toward each target. To facilitate monitoring, a variety of tools exist to track and visualize progress towards the goals. All intend to make data more available and more easily understood.
Беккер с трудом сдержал крик ужаса. Меган сидела на унитазе с закатившимися вверх глазами. В центре лба зияло пулевое отверстие, из которого сочилась кровь, заливая лицо. - О Боже! - воскликнул он в ужасе.
